About us.

“The only thing we know about the future is that it will be different.”
-- Peter Drucker

Rivertide Consulting (dba The Rivertide Group LLC) was founded in 2003 by Philip Suter, and is based in Portsmouth, NH - about an hour north of Boston.

In addition to consulting, Phil teaches teaches at the Whittemore School of Business & Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He has also taught at Antioch University New England, and at Northeastern University.

Prior, Phil served as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State, as an account director at a direct marketing and promotions agency, and as a director in a computer hardware company.

Phil has served as executive director of two nonprofit organizations: The First Tee of New Hampshire (youth development), and the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire (education). He has also started a non-profit organization, served as a board president, and advised several nonprofit organizations.

What people have said about Phil:

"Rivertide provided superb guidance and consultation to our organization at a critical time. As a facilitator in a session with several executive volunteers, including board members, Phil Suter helped the group reach consensus and buy-in on revenue goals for a five-year period. That meeting helped set our organization on a path of steady growth and long-term financial sustainability. Rivertide did extensive research on our business and our goals. Phil's preparation and easy-going style is credible, collaborative and focused. We needed a fresh look at our organization, to develop a fresh approach for our future, and that is what we got…ten-fold! Rivertide made a
difference for us, and for our community."
Richard Brothers, Cape and Islands United Way

"Phil has the ability to listen to a group, analyze context and content, and ask questions to help organizations see new opportunities. Phil joined a group of seasoned faculty and wisely took time to learn the culture, while helping the group navigate through some very deep organizational changes. Faculty and students alike recall Phil's ability to crystallize messages. He taught us to "keep it simple" and that helped us to articulate our goals, mission, and vision during times of wide programmatic change. Phil has the leadership qualities to support a group, create a vision, and build a future from a foundation of personal and organizational strength."
